A man and a woman are 380 feet apart and start walking towards each other in a straight line. If the man is walking at a rate of 6 feet per second and the woman is walking at a rate of 2 feet per second when will they meet. (How many seconds will they be walking)

We are tasked to find the time it requires to meet the man and the woman at the beginnning they are 380 feet away from each other. The rate of the woman is 2 feet / second while the man is 6 feet/ second. To solve this, we only use the distance formula,

D=rt
380=2(t)+6(t)
8t=380
t=47.5 s

Therefore, they will be walking for about 47.5 s in order to meet each other.
