Area of the rectangle is L * W.......13 * 8 = 104 sq in.

Area of a triangle is (h * b) / 2......(8 * 4) / 2 = 32/2 = 16 sq. in.

104 + 16 = 120 sq. in. <===

Answer:

The area of Figure ABCD is:

120 square inches.

Explanation:

We know that the figure is the shape of a trapezoid .

and we know that the area of trapezoid is given by:

Area=(1)/(2)* (sum\ of\ the\ bases)* Height

i.e. If B and B' are two bases of the trapezoid and H is the height of the trapezoid then,

Area=(1)/(2)* (B+B')* H

Here in the figure we have:

B=17\ inches

B'=13\ inches

H=8\ inches

Hence, the area of figure is:

Area=(1)/(2)* (13+17)* 8\\\\i.e.\\\\Area=(1)/(2)* 30* 8\\\\Area=120\ \text{square\ inches}
