A topographic map would provide information about the elevation and slope of certain areas on the course. this would allow her to anticipate more different areas in the course.

What this basically means is that before she will goes onto to high elevation areas, she will save energy by bicycling slower. And she will only know which areas are higher if she has a topographic map

Having a topographic map before going could help you to know how would the ground change on each section of the route.

It shows you the types of soils, heights, and plains.
