A train left main street at 2:30 pm it arrived at the next stop at 3:02 pm how long did the train take to reach the stop

You can do subtraction of times.

- 2:30
----------

Borrow 1 hour from the 3 in 3:02. 1 hour is 60 minutes, so borrow an hour from 3, and add 60 minutes to 2. Then subtract minutes from minutes and hours from hours.

2:62
- 2:30
---------
0:32

Answer: 32 minutes.

You can also just think like this.
From 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm it's 30 minutes.
From 3:00 pm to 3:02 pm it's 2 minutes.
Add 30 minutes and 2 minutes, and you get 32 minutes.

Answer: 32 minutes
