The length of a rectangle is 4 in longer than its width. if the perimeter of the rectangle is 44 in , find its area.

x = width
x + 4 = length

2x + 2(x + 4) = 44
2x + 2x + 8 = 44
4x + 8 = 44
4x = 36
x = 9
x + 4 = 13

9 * 13 = 117

The area should be 117 square inches. Hope this helps!
