The difference between the squares of two consecutive positive integers is 9. find the integers. (hint: let x and x 1 represent the consecutive integers.)

x = 1st number. x+1=3nd number

(x+1)² - x² = 9

x² +2x + 1 - x² = 9

2x+1=9
2x=8
x=4

numbers are 4 and 5
