The formula for the area of a circle is π * r²
Substituting 3.14 for pi and 2 and 1/4, or 9/4 meters for r:
Area = 3.14 * (9/4)²
Area = 3.14 * 81/16
Area = 254.34/16 Multiply numerator and denominator by 100/100 to simplify:
Area = 25434/1600 Pull 2 out from numerator/denominator
Area = 12717/800 meters²,
or
15 and 717/800 meters
²

It makes very little sense to use 3.14, a decimal number, for pi and then answer in fraction form, but that is one way to write it.
