A hotel plans to use marble for part of the floor lobby. The marble section of the floor will be in the shape of a triangle with a base of 80 feet and a height of 60 feet. The marble flooring costs $6 per square foot. How much will the marble for the floor cost?

The area of a triangle is half the base times the height:

A=(b\cdot h)/(2)

Thus, the area of the marble section is:

A=(80 \cdot 60)/(2) = 2,400 \text{ square feet}

If every square foot costs $6, the total cost is:

2,400 · 6 = $14,400
