I am completely lost on question #7 when it comes to helping my daughter, below is the question and I will explain below that where we are getting stuck. Can someone please explain this out for me?

7.) Two students were walking to school one day when they saw two teachers each walking with two dogs. On each of the dog’s two ears, there were two fleas. Each flea called two more fleas to join them. How many fleas were there in all? Explain how your found your answer.

1 dog has 2 ears
4 dogs X 2 ears each = 8 ears
2 fleas per ear (8 ears X 2 fleas) = 16 fleas
16 fleas called 2 more fleas = 32 fleas

The answer key online states 48 fleas

You just have to sum the 32 invited fleas to the 16 that were there previously.

32 + 16 = 48
