Answer: True or false: 1 and 3 are true 2 and 4 are false

Explanation:

4-2(3+7)=4-2*3-2*7
PEMDAS
2(3+7)=20

4-20=3-2*3-2*7
4-20=3-6-14
-16 = -16
True
4-2(3+7)=4+-2*3+2*7 = False (-16=12)
4-2(3+7)=4+-2*3+-2*7
+-2 = -2
4-20=3-2*3-2*7
4-20=3-6-14
-16=-16
True
Next section:
1. 8x-9-12x+5
-4x-4 (Must be equivalent to)
(8x-9)-12x+5

Distribute
-4x-4
2. 8x(-9-12x)+5
8x-9(-12x+5)
8x(-9-12x+5)
Next Section:

8-3(4-9x)
27x-4 (Must be equivalent to)
1. Jada is correct because she properly used PEMDAS, She multiplied the parenthesis first, then distributed.
2. Noah had an error in the 2nd step, instead of multiplying the parenthesis, he subtracted the 3 from 8 then multiplied the parenthesis
Lin made a mistake by starting with the numbers inside of the parenthesis, which multiplying should of went first.
Andre made a mistake when he multiplied -3 by -9x a negative multiplied by a negative makes a positive.

I hope this helps!
