Choose the type of critical thinking demonstrated in the example:

After an argument with your parents over whether you should be allowed to stay out until midnight, you are fuming. Your parents are not persuaded by your arguments, and you begin to think about whether you are being persuasive, and how you can bolster your position.

The type of critical thinking demonstrated in the example is the ability to QUESTION. As you question your parents viewpoint and their reasons for an earlier curfew, and then you question your arguments to persuade them, you begin to think critically. As you use questioning techniques in your thought process, you start to form conclusions and develop problem-solving skills. Questioning promotes probing another person's position or line of reasoning. If you can understand the "why" of a person's logic, you will be able to evaluate and form your own "why" with equal logic. You must be willing to objectively summarize all of the information you have and then think about all the possibilities. This higher level reasoning comes about through questioning.
