A store sells 4 ears of sweet corn for $1.00. How much will 9 ears cost ?

First, you need to find the proportional relationship. We would do that by dividing the 1 dollar into four parts of 25 cents.
So, then we multiply the .25 by 9,
to get 0.25 * 9 = 2.25 dollar for 9 ears of sweet corn.
