Wright an equation of a line that is parallel to y=3x-5 and goes through the piont (3,1).

y = mx + b
since it is parallel, m for this line also equals 3
y = 3x + b
plug in the point and solve for b
1 = 3(3) + b
1 = 9 + b
b = -8

y = 3x - 8
is the equation of the parallel line
