Mr. Bryan's class has 60 students. 1 4 of the students stay for tutoring on Monday. If Mr. Bryan equally divides the students that stay for tutoring into 5 groups, how many students are in each group?

There would be four groups of 3, and one group of 2; 15 divided by 3 gives you a whole number, which means an equal amount of students in each group, but there is only 14 students, so one group would have one less student.

Well, if by 1 4 you mean 1/4 then to do this problem, simply multiply 60 by 1/4 to get 15 students who stayed and if you divide 15 by the 5 groups, 3 students in each

You also could have simply divided by the reciprocal which means 60 divided by 4 still getting 15 then you do what I did above
