UPS, the brown truck shipping company, has seen an increase in gasoline from about $2.30 per gallon to $3.40. What is the percentage increase?   (user % symbol in answer)

percent increase : (new number - original number) / original number...* 100
: (3.40 - 2.30) / 2.30.....* 100
: 1.1 / 2.30....* 100
: 0.4783 * 100
: 47.83 % increase....not sure if u need it to the nearest percent or not, if so, it is 48%
