A grocery store indicates that plumsvare 6 for $1.50 and a sign by the apples indicates that they are 5 for $3.00. Find total cost of buying 2 plums and 2 apples?

Ok so you would take the number 6 and divide that by 1.50 since there are 6 plumes for 1.50. That is 25 cents per plum. But you want to buy 2 plums so multiply 25 by 2 which is 50 cents. Do the same for the apples,divide 3.00 by 5 which is 60 cents per apple but you want two apples so that is 1.20 for both apples. Then you have to figure out the cost of the plums and the apples so you add 50 cents to 1.20 and you get 1.70.
