There are two types of vascular tissue on vascular plants:

→ The Xylem consists of a tube formed by dead cells that don't have end walls between them. This tissue transport dissolved minerals from the roots to the stem and leaves.

→ The Phloem, consists of a tube formed by living cells separated by perforated end walls, that transport photosynthetic nutrients (sugar dissolved in water) from the photosynthetic cells on the leaves to the rest of the plant.
