The price of a gallon of unleaded gas was $2.79 yesterday. Today, the price rose to $2.84 . Find the percentage increase. Round your answer to the nearest tenth of a percent.

First: work out the difference (increase) between the two numbers you are comparing.

Increase = New Number - Original Number

Then: divide the increase by the original number and multiply the answer by 100.

% increase = Increase ÷ Original Number × 100.

Using this math, you get the percent increase of : 1.79, but rounding to the nearest tenth, you get the answer of: 1.8 Hope this helps :)
