1. Two types of reaction occur when baking soda and vinegar combine. The first is a double replacement reaction. Write a balanced equation for this reaction. Please balance both equations.

___Na(HCO3) + _____ H(C2H3O2) → ______Na(C2H3O2) + ______H2CO3

______H2CO3 → ______H2O + _____CO2

2. What type do you think the second reaction is? Why?

1NaHCO3 + 1HC2H3O2 → 1Na(C2H3O2) + 1H2CO3
First reaction is balanced, there is no need to write coefficient 1 in front of molecule.
1H2CO3 → 1H2O + 1CO2
Second reaction is also balanced. This type of reaction is calling c
hemical decomposition or analysis, because one molecule separats into its two simpler compounds.
