Compare grant and lee as commanders of their respective armies. is the traditional view of lee as the "greatest general of the civil war," despite his defeat, a justified one? why or why?

Everyone will have their opinions, but looking at it from a historical viewpoint you can make an argument that Lee was a great general. Because of the fact that he had less troops at his disposal, and not enough factories and resources because of a union blockade and still was able to gain tactical victories during portions of the war shows that he was a very formidable foe for sureĀ
