We know that, on average, the car travels 32miles/gallon on the highway. Considering that for each mile traveled, the car will consume 1 gallon of fuel, you can calculate how many miles it will travel, given a fuel quantity using cross multiplication:

1 gallon _____ 32 miles

10 gallons ___ x miles

Both sets of values must be at the same rate so that:

(32)/(1)=(x)/(10)

From this expression, you can calculate the miles he can cover as follows:

\begin{gathered} 10\cdot((32)/(1))=(10)/(10)x \\ 320=x \end{gathered}

The car can travel up to 320 miles with 10 gallons of fuel.
