Where A is the area, π is 3.1416 and r is the radius. Whe know that the diameter is two times the radius, therefore we divide 12/2 to obtain a radius of 6 inches and now we proceed to use the formula in the beginning:

A=( 3.1416) (6²)

A=(3.1416)(36) =113.1
