The ratio between mistery books and non fiction books is:

(24)/(18)=(6\cdot4)/(6\cdot3)=(4)/(3)=\frac{\text{mistery books}}{\text{non fiction books}}

therefore, we have that for each 4 mistery books checked out, there are 3 non fiction books checked out.
