In Edgar Allan Poe's "the raven" the speaker says,"much Iarveled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly l." What dose the speaker mean when he describes the raven as "this ungainly fowl"?

Poe, or more accurately the speaker, is posing that the bird is clumsy.
