What is the remainder when you divide 4x³ - 5x² + 3x - 1 by x - 2?

Simplify each term.
4x^2 - 5x^2 + 3x - 1/x -2 2

By the remainder theorem this will be
f(2) = 4(2)^3 - 5(2)^2 + 3(2) - 1
= 32 - 20 + 6 - 1
= 12 + 5

= 17
