To find the average add up all the numbers and divide the total by the amount of numbers you added up.

Your equation would look like:
(3 + 5 + m)/(3) = 10

(8 + m)/(3) = 10

Multiply both sides by 3.

8 + m = 30

Subtract 8 from both sides.

\boxed {m = 22}

10 = (3 + 5 + m) / 3 (by the definition of the average)

8 + m = 3*10
m = 30 - 8

m = 22 answer
