Jem and scout were somewhat disappointed in atticus because he wasn't athletic like some fathers. what happened to change the children's perception of their father

To Jem and Scout it was disappointing that Atticus isn't in such great shape as some of other children's fathers but after a specific instance, and that is Atticus killing a rabid dog their opinion of him changes drastically as they saw how accurately he shot it. They understand that athleticism is not all that is important.
