Notice from the graph that the graph of Y₄ is below the graph of Y₃.

Also, note that the equation of Y₄ can be written as:


\begin{gathered} Y_4=2^x+2=2^x+4-2 \\ \text{Since }Y_3=2^x+4 \\ \Rightarrow Y_4=Y_3-2 \end{gathered}

Recall that the graph of a function f(x) when translated downward by k units, becomes, f(x)-k.

It follows by all these reasonings that Y₄ was translated down from the graph of Y₃.
