Why are the 1920s known as the Roaring Twenties?

They were called the Roaring Twenties because of the sudden boom of culture such as jazz music and dance, and a huge boom in oil. Many people defied prohibition, indulged in new styles of dance and dress, and rejected moral standards at this time.
