Case study 1

• Aman of 29 is involved in car crash and is paralysed from the neck down.
• He can talk and eat but can not move his hands, legs or body. He can't leave
his bed, wash himself, go to the toilet or feed himself
• He thinks his life is over. Previously he had gone to the gym twice a week,
played football for a Sunday team and enjoyed clubbing
• He has asked Doctors to turn off his life support machine him so he can die.
If you were the Doctor would
you allow him to do this?
Should he be allowed to die?
