y = 5x – 2  y = 5(11) – 2  y = 55 – 2 = 49
Remember, the values of the range are the values of y that we obtained above.
Therefore, the values of the range are {0.5,49).

Explanation:

Y=|5x|-2

Given equation y is in vertex form

y = |x-h| + k

Y=|5x|-2

there is no h so h=0 and k= -2

vertex is (h,k) so its (0,-2)

now make a table. plug in some value for x before and after 0

x y= |5x| -2

-2 y = |5(-2)| - 2= |-10| -2 = 10-2 = 8

-1 y = |5(-1)| - 2= |-5| -2 = 5-2 = 3

0 y = 0 - 2= -2

1 y = |5(1)| - 2= 3

2 y = |5(2)| - 2= 8
