In the opening lines of paradise lost, what does milton say the theme of his work is

Milton speaks of the loss of Eden until the greaterĀ  manĀ  can restore humankind. Milton intended to use the poem to bring light to the things that have not been said before. He wants the people of the Church to understand that God is not mad at them, and it is the Pope who is making them believe false truths.
