Step 1

Move the constants to one side

So 1/6 = x - 1/3 becomes
1/6 + 1/3 = x

Now we need to add 1/6 and 1/3 by finding a common denominator, in this case 6

To get from 3 to 6 we need to multiply by 2

So we multiply the whole fraction by 2 to get from 1/3 to 2/6

1/6 + 2/6 = 3/6

3/6 is really 1/2 so its just 1/2

Now you’re left with 1/2 = x

Answer: x = 1/2
