The economic result is: Unemployment in home countries dropped.
For a short period after the soldiers drafted to the war, Local businesses were forced to use undrafted individuals to work for them.
This technically reduced the number of unemployment in the country during the war, but it reversed back massively as soon as the soldiers got back.
