Roosevelt's "Four Freedoms" was the theory with which President Roosevelt defended the end of American isolacionism, arguing that the entire planet should have guaranteed four essential human freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want and freedom from fear.

The opponents to this theory argued that it impelled the United States to direct participation in the war, which, in the end, ended up happening.
