We cannot subtract the fractions because the denominators aren't the same. We need to get the denominators to the LCD 3*5 = 15

1/3 = 5/15 after multiply top and bottom by 5
1/5 = 3/15 after multiplying top and bottom by 3

So,
(1/3) - (-1/5) = (5/15) - (-3/15)
(1/3) - (-1/5) = (5/15) + (3/15)
(1/3) - (-1/5) = (5+3)/15
(1/3) - (-1/5) = 8/15

Answer: Choice D) 8/15
