The geography of Germany was a challenge to the country during WW1 due to the fact that the soldiers had to fight the conditions as well as the enemies. German soldiers had to fight a many literal uphill battles and deal with harsh weather conditions. Germany was also isolated from the sea trading routes because of Russia.
