Ok the way I'm going to solve this equation is by using the distributive property. 5(x + 1) will be 5x + 5 and 5x(2 - 4) will be 10x- 20x

so your equation will look like this 5x+1=10x- 20x
now add/subtract like terms in this case it's ''x'' so 10x- 20x will be -10x

so now the equation will be like this 5x+1= -10x
after your equation looks like this you then do this

5x+1= -10x
-5x -5x

so now you will have 1= -15x

now do this 1= -15x
/-15 /-15

now you should have -1/15 and that should equal x

hope this helps

Solve the rational equation by combining expressions and isolating the variable x.
x = 1/5
Hope this helps! :)
