|-5x+10| is just 5x + 10 > 10

so 5x + 10 > 10
-10 -10


5x > 0
/5 /5

x > 0 is the answer to this Inequality

To solve an equation of the form |X| > k, where X is an expression in x and k is a number, solve the two compound inequality,

X < -k or X > k

Now we can do this problem.

|-5x + 10| > 10

-5x + 10 < - 10 or -5x + 10 > 10

-5x < -20 or -5x > 0

x > 4 or x < 0

The solution is x < 0 or x > 4.

The graph is an number line with an open circle at 0 and shaded to the left of zero, and an open circle at 4 and shaded to the right of 4.
