Jane Addams attended Rockford Female Seminary in 1881. As a child, she saw harsh conditions that were common among those who lived in the poor neighborhoods of Chicago. Once she was an adult, she co-founded Hull House, a settlement home that provided artistic support, social support, and educational support in the community.
