How would you solve this??? I don't know how to get X using a Pythagorean formula. Am I even supposed to use a Pythagorean formula??

yes use Pythagorean theorem.
x² + 7² = (x+1)²
x² + 49 = x² + 2x + 1
,48=2x

x = 24
