That the Umayyads empire was founded because of a civil war between the Muawiya and Ali while the Abbasides empire was founded by killing the Umayyads in a dinner party.

Answer:

The Umayyads´ empire was established after the First Fitna, which is the name of the First Muslim Civil War. Under the rule of the Umayyads dynasty, the mawla (non-arabic converted people), had to endure severe ethnical segregation. This segregation and religious discrepancies led to a revolt which overthrown the Umayyads dynasty.

The name of the rebellion was the Abbasid Revolution that allowed the society to be more plural and multi-ethnic. Nevertheless, Abbasid led a campaign to exterminate the memebers and descendants of the Umayyads.
