parallel lines have equal slope do slope of 2nd line is -7 also. using point slope we get y-5=-7(x+8). solve for to get. slope intercept y=*-7x-51
perpendicular lines have slopes that are negative reciprocals do slope of this line is 1/7. using the above processes we get y,-5=1/7(x+8) or y=1/7x +43/7
