If y = kx, where k is a constant, and y = 24 when x = 6, what is the value of y when x = 5

y = kx = 4*5 = 20
I guess that's the answer. Took me a while to figure it out.

First, find the value of the constant k. You can do that by dividing x from both sides to get

k = (y)/(x)
Then, input the known values of x and y into the expression to get

k = (24)/(6) = 4
Now that we know the constant, plug in both k and the wanted value of x to get

y = 4(5) = 20
The answer therefore is y = 20.
