The deflection of alpha particles in Rutherford's gold foil experiments resulted in what change to the atomic model? (2 points)

the addition of energy levels and orbitals to the electron cloud

the addition of a small, dense nucleus to the center of the atom

Answer: the addition of a small, dense nucleus to the center of the atom

Explanation: When alpha particles rays were passed through the set up Gold Foil Experiment, it was observed that some of the rays got deflected due to some particle present in the centre of the atom.

Thus it was concluded that there is a small dense particle which was termed as the NUCLEUS is present at the center of the atom due to which some of the rays got deflected.
