2(4z - 9 - 11) = 166 - 46

8z - 18 - 22 = 120

8z = 120 +40

8z = 160

z = 20

Heya!
Let's go through this together.
First, we can use the distributive property to simplify the left side.
8z-18-11 = 166-46
Then, we can simplify the right side
8z-18-22 = 120
We can then simplify the left a little more- there's two like terms there (-18 and -22).
8z-40 = 120.
Next, we add 40 to both sides.
8z = 160
Last, we divide both sides by 8 to get z = 20.
Hope this helps!
