I have a beautiful bowl of fresh fruit, notably some nice apples and bananas. i like them so much that i decide to place them in a glass display case. within a couple of days, i notice most of the fruit is rotten. what is the likely culprit?

The ethylene released by the ripening fruit under glass is causing all of the fruit to decay
