I think the hypotenuse measures 10. I'm using 10, so hopefully it's correct. We have right triangle trig going on here. We have the reference angle of 54 degrees, we have the hypotenuse of the triangle, and we are looking for the side opposite the angle. That is the sin ratio:


sin54=(x)/(10)

To solve for x, multiply both sides by 10 to get

10sin(54) = x

On your calculator in degree mode, multiply all that in to get that

x = 8.1
