x^2 + 4x - 12

u see that last sign in ur problem....the negative....thats tells us that ur 2 factors will each have different signs. And u see ur first sign...the positive..that tells us that ur larger number will be positive. Now we have to find 2 numbers, then when added = 4 and when multiplied = -12.
6 and -2 are ur numbers...

so when factored, it is : (x + 6)(x - 2) <==
