When you multiply 103*2.5 that equals 257.5 and when you multiply 102*3.5 you get 357.0. Adding the two sums will get you to 61.45 do remember you have to move 2 decimal spaces to the left because you have two .5's. Hope this helps.

Answer:

The result is 2.85 x 10^3

Explanation:

The exercise is adding two number with Scientific notation, that is a way of simplify a large number

Scientific notation is a number multiplied by a power of 10.

In this case, we are adding

2.5 x 10^3

3.5 x 10^2

We need the same power, so we can add them. To change the power, from 10^2 to 10^3, we can divide by 10 the number.

So,

2.5 x 10^ 3 + 0.35 x 10^3= 2.85 x 10^3
